Mahler – Piano Quartet Movement in A minor
Mozart – Piano Quartet in G minor K 478
Schumann – Piano Quartet in E flat major Op 47

Like last year’s Bath Mozartfest, this year’s includes a full-length Friday afternoon concert by members of BBC Radio 3’s New Generation Artists scheme. In a truly international line-up, the Amatis Trio, formed in Amsterdam in 2014 by a German violinist, a British cellist and a Dutch-Chinese pianist, is joined by the Norwegian violist Eivind Ringstad. They perform three piano quartets: Mahler’s only surviving chamber work, a single movement written during his student days in Vienna; the more dramatic and intense of Mozart’s two works for the medium; and Schumann’s only mature piano quartet, a gem of Romantic chamber music.

This concert is being recorded by BBC Radio 3 for future broadcast.
