Mozart – Oboe Quartet in F major K 370
Britten – Pan, Niobe, Bacchus, Arethusa, from Six Metamorphoses after Ovid for solo oboe Op 49
Mozart – Divertimento in E flat major for string trio K 563

Lawrence Power and Adrian Brendel, well known to audiences as members of the Nash Ensemble, join forces with Céline Moinet, the French principal oboist of the renowned Dresden Staatskapelle orchestra, and the Norwegian violin virtuoso Henning Kraggerud for a session of music-making among friends. Four of Benjamin Britten’s imaginative Metamorphoses for solo oboe, inspired by classical mythology, are the filling in this lunchtime sandwich, between two works of Mozart: the Oboe Quartet, a sparkling miniature concerto, and the Divertimento for string trio, which sustains the highest level of invention and brilliance throughout its six movements.
